West Chiltington, West Sussex
Located between Pulborough and Storrington, West Chiltington is a hidden treasure situated in the lea of the South Downs. West Chiltington has a population of approximately, 3,500 and has two centres. The old village enjoys the benefit of an award winning Post Office Stores, two public houses, a brasserie, primary school, beautiful 13th century church of St Mary, which has a spire covered with oak shingles and a roof of Horsham stone, and a local golf course. West Chiltington provides a semi-rural atmosphere and has a wealth of charming cottages, many of them designed by Wells together with other character property situated in winding lanes and tree lined roads. It is this that makes the village so special. West Chiltington was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Cilletune. The village of Storrington is approximately three miles to the east and enjoys an attractive setting at the foot of the South Downs and conveniently close to the A24 providing access to Horsham and Worthing. Both Pulborough and Storrington offer local shopping facilities, doctors, dentists, schools and Churches of various denominations. Other activities in the area are offered by the West Sussex Golf Club and the South Down Gliding Club at Parham. Hunting with the Crawley and Horsham, Chiddingfold, Leconfield and Cowdray Hunts. Chichester and its Festival Theatre, the sailing centres at Bosham and Chichester are all within easy reach.
